WALKING & HIKING

 

The choice is varied - ranging from loop tours of the village, walking in the Oetzerberg area, the village's sunny terrace, or forest trails leading to lake Piburgersee: Oetz has something for hikers of all ages and preferences. Among the highlights are the Jakobsweg Trail (Camino de Santiago), featuring a great many of sights, and the newly opened Knappenweg Trail in the Hoch-Oetz Pasture Area.
 

Oetz- Lake Habicher See-Glockengießer Haus

Leisurely hike via some interesting stages to Habichen. Visit to a number of historical buildings in Habichen. Return via Wiesenweg trail across the meadows.

Oetz-Ebene-Oetzerau-Klingenburg

Walking tour across some hamlets of Oetz. Visit of the legendary Teufelsschmiede (devil's smithy). Great view of the picturesque surroundings from the Hexenplatte area.

Wellerbrücke bridge-Kohlstatt-Lake Piburgersee

Easy walking tour along a slightly ascending trail from the village center to the Piburgersee Nature Preserve.

Jakobsweg Trail

The famous Camino de Santiago is dating back to the Middle Ages, covering big parts of central Europe – including the village of Oetz.

Knappenweg Trail

Follow the tracks of the former miners who used this route for the transport of chalcopyrite, pyrite and galena. The recently installed Miners' Museum shows many interesting objects.

HOCHOETZ PASTURE AREA
The Acherkogelbahn mountain lift takes you from 815m up to the wonderful Hochoetz hiking area at 2,022m above sea level within only 8 minutes. This is a perfect starting point for unlimited hiking tours along a network of signposted trails including easy hut hikes, tours to Ötztal's neighboring valleys and hiking paths to the Kühtai area.
